Men's Basketball Falls On the Road to JWU in GNAC Action

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Johnson & Wales Wildcats cruised to a 92-48 victory over the Suffolk men's basketball team in GNAC action on Thursday evening at Wildcat Center.

Johnson & Wales got 71 points out of their starters as it improves to a 5-1 overall record on the year and picks up its second conference victory in as many games.

Senior Quarry Greenway led all scorers with 25 points on the evening shooting 10-for-18 from the field as he also led all players with nine rebounds on the evening.

Senior Tom Garrick added 20 points in the victory, while junior Anthony Jernigan and senior Clayton Roker rounded out the field with 15 and 11 points respectively.

For Suffolk, junior Matt Duquette finished with a team-high 12 points, while senior Jake Meister scored nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Wildcats forced 19 Suffolk turnovers in the first half as they took a 56-13 lead heading into the break.

Suffolk was able to turn things around in the second half, shooting at a 48-percent clip from the field in the period (12-for-25).

Freshmen Kevin Querusio and Warfa Abdillahi each collected six points in the second half, while senior Nacho Ballve and junior Mohammed Sina Shafiezadeh both added five points a piece.

Johnson & Wales held a slight edge in the contest on the glass with a 35-32 margin in rebounds.

Suffolk will look to snap its two-game skid on Saturday when its back in GNAC action as they host Emmanuel at the Regan Gymnasium at 1 p.m.
