Men's Basketball Falls to Lasell 83-76 on Thursday

The Lasell College Lasers topped the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team 83-76 on Thursday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in the Regan Gymnasium.

Senior Jeremy Daniel (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored 16 of his game's 19 points over the second half to help the Lasers improve to a 9-15 overall record, and 8-9 mark in conference play.

Freshman Scott Arsenault (Walpole, Mass.) joined Daniel scoring 19 points on the evening as he connected on a team-high five three-pointers in the win. Lasell shot at a 54.2-percent clip (13-for-24) from beyond the arc in the victory as a team.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) scored a team-high 18 points in the setback for Suffolk as he was 5-for-10 from the field in the game. Meister was one of five Suffolk shooters to record double digit scoring totals on the evening for the Rams.

Junior Caleb Unni (Winchester, Mass.) added 13 points highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort from the three-point line, while juniors Adam Chick (Northbrook, Ill.), Branden Barboza (Riverside, R.I.) and sophomore Matt Duquette (Swampscott, Mass.) each scored 12 points.

Both teams would trade leads for the first 37 minutes of the contest, until Lasell put the game away with a 12-2 run in the final 3:23 of regulation to seal off the victory.

Senior Mike Vallone (Wallingford, Conn.) connected on an eight foot jumper with 2:08 remaining in the game to put the Lasers back in front 75-74 as they would not relinquish the lead from there.

Junior Pat Marchand (Cranston, R.I.) would have a big second half for the Lasers as he collected 10 rebounds and scored nine points in the period to finish the evening with a double-double. Marchand led all players on the night grabbing 12 rebounds while he chipped in with 14 points.

Both teams will round out their 2014-15 regular seasons on the road this upcoming Saturday afternoon.

Lasell will travel to Norwich for a 3:00pm tip-off with the Cadets, while Suffolk heads across the city to take on the Emmanuel College Saints.
