Mount Ida Sneaks Past Men's Basketball At Final Buzzer

Freshman Joey DeFillippi (Bristol, Conn.) hit a buzzer beater to lift the Mount Ida College Mustangs to a 72-69 victory over the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

It was a wild finish to the game as Mount Ida was able to rush the ball up the entire floor for the game winning shot with just three seconds on the clock in regulation.

Sophomore Matt Duquette (Swampscott, Mass.) evened the game at 69-69 with three seconds remaining in regulation as he was found underneath the basket by junior Adam Chick (Northbrook, Ill.).

On the ensuing inbound pass DeFillippi would rush the ball up the court on the right side, avoid being knocked out of bounds and throw up a shot from the end of the scorer's table that would bank in off the glass to give the Mustang the victory.

DeFillippi was one of four Mustangs' players to finish the afternoon with double digit scoring totals as he finished with 12 points.

Freshman Brendan Cunningham (Quincy, Mass.) led all players scoring 21 points with an 8-for-12 shooting effort from the eld.  Cunningham had an impressive afternoon with a 5-for-6 performance from three-point land.

Freshman Patrick McKearney (Avon, Conn.) recorded the double-double as he scored 15 points to go along with 11 points.  Freshman Jayson Clark (Austin, Tx.) added 10 points.
