Men's Basketball Suffer GNAC Setback On the Road

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball dropped an 82-78 decision to Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Monday evening.

Freshman Mike Hogervorst (Leiden, Netherlands) scored a career-high 28 points in the victory for the Cadets on 9-for-11 shooting from the field, including a 3-for-3 effort from beyond the three-point line.

Senior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) scored 23 points for Suffolk in the setback as they now fall to a 7-9 overall record and 4-5 mark in GNAC play.

Norwich erased an eight-point deficit midway through the first half to as they took a 43-38 lead into halftime. The Cadets would lead for the entirity of the 20 minute second half.

A three-pointer by Nwadike with 2:13 remaining would make it a one possession contest at 76-74, but sophomore Kevin Ross (Ontario, Calif.) would put the Cadets back up by four answering with a layup.

Junior Alex Preckol (Westford, Mass.) would go 3-for-4 from the line in the closing minutes to help seal off the Norwich win.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) recorded his second double-double in as many games as he posted a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with 18 points.

Junior Curtis Casella (Saugus, Mass.) added 11 points off the bench in the setback.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Lasell College at the Regan Gymnasium beginning at 1:00pm.
