Men's Basketball Finish Strong First Half

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball won four of their last five games to end the first semester with a 5-4 record including a pair of wins in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. Suffolk's offense has been strong averaging 81.6 points per game which stands for the 36th best average among all NCAA Division III teams currently. Suffolk also stands at number 18 in total rebounds with a 380 total through nine games.

Senior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) is off to a monster start this season averaging a conference best 24.9 points per game. Nwadike is currently seventh among all scorers nationally in Division-III. A large part of that his been his ability to get to the free-throw line as he currently leads all players in the nation in free-throw attempts (89) and is second in free-throws made (74). Nwadike's 224 points scored is the sixth highest total in the nation currently as he has also made 71 field-goals; the 13th most in Division-III. Nwadike has been recognized by the GNAC on four occasions with Weekly Honor Roll nods. Nwadike scored a career-high 39 points on December 4, an 84-82 conference victory over Anna Maria College.

Alongside Nwadike, Suffolk's gotten strong contributions from multiple players this season.

Sophomore Matt Duquette (Swampscott, Mass.) is second on the team with an 11.9 points per game average. Duquette has recorded two double-doubles on the season as he also averages 6.4 rebounds per game.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) currently has a team-best 6.9 rebound per game average to go along with a 10.0 point per game pace.

Junior Curtis Casella (Saugus, Mass.) has been solid off the bench averaging 8.9 points per game off the bench for Suffolk. Cassella is currently tied for Second among all shooters in the GNAC from beyond the arc with a 51.4 three-point shooting percentage.

Suffolk will be back in action on Sunday January 4th when they host cross town rival Emerson College in non-conference action at the Regan Gymnasium at 1:00pm.
