Men's Basketball Pick Up First Win of Season Defeating Lesley 83-64

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball team picked up their first win of the 2014-15 season with an 83-64 victory over Lesley University at the RWU/Courtyard by Marriott Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Roger Williams University.

Senior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) finished the afternoon leading all scorers with 26 points, while junior Curtis Casella (Saugus, Mass.) provided 19 points off the bench for Suffolk.

Suffolk controlled most of the offensive tempo from the start of the contest. After going back and forth in the opening minutes of the game, consecutive three pointers by Casella and junior Caleb Unni (Winchester, Mass.) gave the Rams the lead seven minutes into the game and they would not look back.

Nwadike and Casella would combine for 30 of Suffolk's 48 first half points as they took a 20-point lead with them into halftime.

A three point play by Nwadike three minutes into the second half would give Suffolk their largest lead of the contest at 25 points, 58-33.

Casella would finish the game 6-for-10 from three-point land as Suffolk shot at a 47.8-percent clip (11-for-23) from beyond the arc in the game.

Unni finished just five assists shy from a triple-double as he led all players with 10 rebounds and also had 10 points.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) also chipped in with 11 points.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Daniel Webster College for a non-conference matchup with the Eagles beginning at 7:00pm.
