Lasell Shoots Past Men's Basketball

he Lasell College men's basketball team connected on 17 three point field goals on their way to a 103-75 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Suffolk University.

The Lasers climbed to 12-8 on the season and 9-4 in conference action while the Rams slipped to 8-12 overall and 5-8 in conference contests.

Clyde Niba (Atlanta, Ga.) led all scorers with 29 points and a game-high 15 rebounds along with five blocked shots for Lasell, connecting on 11-18 field goal attempts and knocking down 3-5 from three point territory. Brock Walters (Jacksonville, Fla.) posted a new career-high for the second straight contest, drilling 8-11 from the floor including 4-7 from long range to go with five rebounds and five assists in the game. Richard O'Brien (Manchester, N.H.) was a perfect 7-7 shooting the ball, connecting on all five of his three point attempts to finish with a career-high 20 points, Brandon Ganesh (West Palm Beach, Fla.) added 13 points for Lasell and Jeremy Daniel (Bridgeport, Conn.) fell just shy of a career-high finishing with 12 assists in the game for Lasell. Lasell converted a season-high 17 three pointers in the game, shooting 51.5% from long range and 51.4% overall.

Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) posted his 19th double digit scoring game for Suffolk, leading the way with 20 points on 6-13 shooting and going a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Rams, who also got seven points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots from Matt Duquette (Swampscott, Mass.).

Lasell led 13-9 with 15 minutes remaining in the first half before going on a 16-2 run over a four minute stretch featuring four consecutive three pointers to take a 29-11 lead with 11 minutes left in the half. A three pointer from Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) of Suffolk halted the hosts run, but Lasell answered with seven straight points, taking a 36-14 lead. The Lasers took a 55-36 lead into the break and Suffolk was never closer than 16 points the rest of the way as Lasell captured the 103-75 victory.
Suffolk will host Mount Ida on Tuesday February 11th at 7:00 p.m. before Lasell comes to town for a rematch on Thursday February 13th at 7:30 p.m. Lasell will go on the road for three straight as they visit Albertus Magnus on Tuesday February 11th, followed by their return trip to Suffolk and then traveling to Anna Maria on Saturday the 15th for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
