Rams Fall to Saints 94-88

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball team fell 94-88 to the Emmanuel Saints in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon at home.

The Rams started the first half strong when Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass) would make a layup to start Suffolk on a six-point run before the Sanits got a chance to get on the board. Suffolk would out pace Emmanuel never giving up the lead into the half. Curtis Cassella (Saugus, Mass) would make a three-point buzzer beater to take the Rams to a 51-42 lead into halftime.

Despite coming off half time with a nine-point deficit the Saints would not give up. With just over seven minutes left in the second half Lydon Harewood (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would start Emmanuel on a 10-point run and eventually overtake the Rams 80-79. Matt Powers (Westwood, Mass.) would make a three-point shot to tie the game 82-82 with 4:10 left in the game. Jordan DeMario (Aliso Viejo, Calif) would make a jump shot to pull the Saints ahead 84-82. The Sanits would not relenquish the lead despite the Rams' best efforts.

Four players for the Rams scored in the double digits with junior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) scoring a game high 23 points and having a game high four assits on the afternoon. Casella would have 14 points with a perfect 4-4 from the three point line.Sophomore Caleb Uni (Winchester, Mass) netted 13 baskets for the Rams and Powers would chip in with 10 points on the afternoon. Pinard would have a game high 13 rebounds.

The Saints were a versatile team with having six players score in the double digits.DeMario would lead the team with 18 points on the afternoon.

This loss drops the Rams to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in GNAC play. The Saints improve to 4-12 and 2-8 in conference action.

The Rams will travel to Anna Maria in GNAC action on Wednesday at 7:00pm. Emmanuel will host MIT in nonconference play on Monday at 7:00pm.
