GNAC Rookie of the Week: Frantz Pinard

GNAC Rookie of the Week: Frantz Pinard

For the third time this season Men's Basketball freshman Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week.

Pinard averaged 16 points per game in a pair of road victories for Suffolk in GNAC play.

Both wins saw the Rams overcome double digit deficits in the second half of each of their games.  Pinard played a major role in Suffolk's 73-68 victory on Saturday afternoon at Rivier University. The freshman guard scored 16 of his game's 18 points in the second half, including nailing the go-ahead three-pointer with three minutes remaining in regulation. Trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, Suffolk used five made three-pointers to reclaim the lead as Pinard sunk two of those. He also scored 14 points on Wednesday evening, an 83-77 Suffolk win that saw the team rebound from being down 18 points with eleven minutes remaining in the contest.

Pinard was named Rookie of the Week in consecutive weeks earlier this season on December 2nd and 9th. Through 15 games on the year, he's averaged 10.9 points per game including a 12.9 average in GNAC contests.

Suffolk stands at a 7-8 overall record on the season and 4-4 mark in GNAC play. They'll be back in action on Tuesday evening as they host Lasell College in the Regan Gymnasium at 7:00pm.
