Pinard Wins Consecutive GNAC Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman Frantz Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) of the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday, December 9.

Pinard finished the week averaging 15.3 points per game as he was the Rams' leading scorer in two of their three contests. He also averaged 7.3 rebounds per game. Pinard shot at a 51.5-percent clip (17-for-33) from the field on the week increasing his points per game total to 11.0ppg in nine games played on the season.

The freshman guard was instrumental in Suffolk's 91-84 overtime victory over Rivier University on Tuesday in their GNAC opener. He finished the evening with his first career double-double scoring 19 points and adding 11 rebounds.  Pinard was strong in the overtime period as he scored eight of Suffolk's 21 points in the extra five minute frame.

Despite two losses later in the week, Pinard continued his strong play as he finished Thursday's contest with a team-high 13 points in a 92-70 setback against St. Joseph's College. Pinard also netted 14 points against the Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

Pinard is currently 10th among all players in the GNAC with a 51.9-percent shooting percentage from the field this season, while he is 15th among all long-range shooters connecting on three-pointers at a 38.5-percent clip.

Suffolk heads into the holiday break with a 3-6 overall record. They'll be back on the court after the new year on January 4 against Emerson College at 3:00pm.
