Men's Basketball Make Annual Skills and Drills Tour

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball team recently visited three fourth grade classes at the William E. Russell School in Dorchester, MA. The visit was part of Head Coach Adam Nelson's "Skills and Drills" program and marks the eighth year the Rams have visited the Russell School. The team worked with the fourth graders on a math lesson based on a basketball box score where the students (and players) had to answer questions by using their math skills to compare and analyze shooting statistics. The curriculum was developed by Coach Nelson's wife, Deb, who is a teacher at the school. After the lesson, the team took the students outside to work on some basketball skills which included ball handling, passing, and shooting.

In April, the Russell students will visit Suffolk and spend a day with the Rams. They will do some drills in the gym, and then be exposed to college life by visiting a dorm room, classroom, and having lunch in one of the dining halls.
