The Tufts University Jumbos (6-5 overall) hit the century mark in points for the first time this season as they topped the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team (4-4 overall), 111-76 on Saturday afternoon in the Regan Gymnasium.

Five players finished in double digits in scoring for the Jumbos as they shot 55.8-percent from the floor as a team, connecting on 15 three-pointers in the game.

Sophomore Ben Ferris (Essex Junction, Vt.) finished with a team-high 18 points to lead the Jumbos, while freshman Stephen Haladyna (Hamilton, Mass.) was 6-for-10 from the field, including a 3-for-4 performance from beyond the arc for 15 points.

Senior Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) led all scorers with 27 points as he opened the game connecting on his first seven field goals. Halpin finished the game 11-for-13 and was 4-for-6 from the three-point line. Senior Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) led all rebounders in the game with 10 as he recorded his 55th career double-double also netting 15 points in the setback.

The story of the game however was the Jumbos ability to shoot. They finished the first half with a 55-37 lead going into the break as they shot 63.6-percent from three (7-for-11) in the opening first half. Freshman Tom Palleschi (Haverhill, Mass.) paced a balance offensive attack as he scored 10 of his game's 13 points in the first half from down low, while sophomore C.J. Moss (Westport, Mass.) was a perfect 3-for-3 on treys for a nine-point first half.

Things didn't slow down in the second half either with an 8-for-13 three-point land performance for the Jumbos as Ferris was 4-for-5 from the field, with a pair of three-pointers for a 12-point second half.

Palleschi and senior Scott Anderson (Sudbury, Mass.) each finished the game with 13 points, while Moss recorded 12 points in the victory.

Senior Chris Torres (Brockton, Mass.) had 10 points in a losing effort for Suffolk, while freshman Caleb Unni (Winchester, Mass.) had a game-high five assists along with six points.

Tufts held a slight edge in rebounds in the game 40-39 but were able to convert on the offensive glass  holding a 27-15 edge in second chance points. The Jumbos also forced 15 Rams' turnovers that they were able to convert into 35 points.

The game was the final game for each team of the first half as they both head into the winter break. Tufts will go into the break with a 6-5 overall record and will be back in action on January 4, 2013 as they host Williams College in a NESCAC matchup at 6:00pm. The 4-4 Rams will be idle until Saturday, January 5th when they travel across town to Emmanuel College for a GNAC matchup at 1:00pm.
