Senior Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) collected his 51st career double-double as the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team opened the 2012-13 regular season with a 81-60 victory over the University of Maine Fort-Kent on Friday evening.
Pepdjonovic led all scorers with 25 points and collected 14 rebounds as the Rams won the opening game of the Courtyard by Marriot Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Roger Williams University.
Senior Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) added 19 points, highlighted by a 3-for-5 effort from beyond the arc, while senior Chris Torres (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points and eight assists for the Rams.
Senior Jhonneris Mendez (Boston, Mass.) added seven points in 10 boards off the bench for Suffolk who now advance to the tournament championship game on Saturday afternoon against the host Hawks at 3:00pm.
