Men's Basketball Falls To Lasell

The duo of junior Sean Bertanza (Seymore, Conn.) and senior Javon Williams (Mattapan, Mass.) combined for 67 points as the Lasell College Lasers (5-9, 4-3 GNAC) defeated the Suffolk University Rams (5-8, 2-5 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball action on Saturday afternoon. 

Bertanza exploded for for 30 second half points, as both players combined to score 48 of their teams' 55 points in the second half compared to the Rams' 41 as a unit.

Bertanza finished the game with 37 points on 13-for-23 shooting from the field, while Williams recorded a double-double with 30 points of his own and a team-high 13 boards.

Junior Chris Torres (Brockton, Mass.) led the Rams with 25 points, as he scored 18 points in the first half that saw the Rams take a 36-34 lead into the break. 

Junior Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) finished the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams, while junior Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) collected 13 points.

Bertanza was too strong for the Rams however as he was 11-for-16 from the field in the second half, including three three-pointers and a 5-for-6 performance from the free throw line. 

The win improves Lasell to 4-3 in GNAC play this season on a 5-9 overall record. With the loss Suffolk drops to 2-5 in league play and a 5-8 overall mark on the year as the Rams have now dropped all five home contests this season.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday evening. Lasell College will travel back into the city to take on Emerson College in GNAC action at 7:00pm. Suffolk will head over to Tufts University to take on the Jumbos in non-conference action at 7:00pm.
