Ray, Rams Shoot Past Emerson, 94-72

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball team (7-16, 5-11 GNAC) came out shooting as they shot fifty-two percent as a team from three-point land to coast past the Emerson College Lions (9-15, 6-11 GNAC) , 94-72 on Tuesday evening.

Senior Allan Ray (Lynn, Mass.) scored a season-high 22 points, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to lead the Rams to their fifth win in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on the season. Ray came out with a hot hand connecting on five treys in a five minute span in the first half to get the Rams going quick.

Suffolk had four of their five starters reach double digits in points as they scored a season-high 94 points as a team.

Ray finished the first half with 17 points as the Rams went into the break with a 43-33 lead.

Sophomore Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) recorded his 14th double-double of the season recording 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, while sophomore Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) was 5-for-6 from the field scoring 18 points and collecting nine boards.

Junior Mike Gibbons (Ringwood, N.J.) got going in the second half scoring 14 of his season-high 17 points as he was 4-for-5 from three point land.

Sophomore Bilali Kalilou-Mack (Windsor, Conn.) was the leading scorer for the Lions netting 14 points and he was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Junior Nathan Firn (Wadesboro, N.C.) had 12 points, while senior Kabir Moss (Chico, Calif.) had 11 points for the visitors.

Senior Mike Fleming (Exeter, N.H.) finished the game with 11 points for Suffolk and added six assists.

 The Rams held a distinct advantage in rebounds at 49-25.

Emerson will close out their regular season on Saturday as they host Norwich University at noon at Brown-Plofker Gym. Suffolk will play their last home contest of the season on Thursday night in a rescheduled matchup against Lasell College. The Rams will be honoring the three graduating members of their senior class prior to tipoff at 7:30pm.
