15th Ranked MIT Too Much For Rams

The MIT Engineers (3-1 overall) topped the Suffolk University Rams (3-2 overall) by an 86-47 margin on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers' big men were too strong for Suffolk as they combined for 55 of the team's 86 points. Sophomore Will Tashman (Atherton, Calif.) led the way scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Freshman Will Dickson (Dallas, Texas) had 17 points in the game, including 15 in the second half as the Engineers put up 55 points in the game's final twenty minutes.

Sophomore Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, Mass.) was the leading scorer for the Rams as he had 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Suffolk held the lead for the first eleven minutes of the contest as a layup by senior Dan Williams (Taunton, Mass.) put Suffolk up 13-10. Consecutive three-pointers by freshman Josh Dunaway (Cincinnati, Ohio) would get the momentum swining in the visitor's favor as they went on a 21-6 run to close out the half.

MIT came into the game ranked 15th in the preseason national poll by D3hoops.com, and proved to be too strong as the Engineers came out strong in the second half shooting 61 percent as a team from the field also outrebounding the Rams 23-9 in the period.

Sophomore Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) finished the game with eight points and five rebounds for Suffolk, while Williams and senior Allan Ray (Lynn, Mass.) each had six points.

Freshman Tim Donegan (Allison Park, Pa.) was the third Engineers player to reach double digits in scoring as the forward put in 16 points and collected eight boards.
