Men's Basketball Fall 84-70

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball fell to the New England College Pilgrims, 84-70 on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams fell behind big in the first half as the Pilgrims opened up a 16-3 run in the opening minutes of the game and pushed their lead to as big as 27 with 2:25 left in the period as senior Shane Hennessey (Plymouth, England) put in a layup.

Suffolk would manage the come back in the second half shrinking the Pilgrims' lead down to three after sophomore Colin Halpin (Melrose, Mass.) put in a basket making it 64-61 with eight and a half minutes left. New England College would answer though going on another giant run in the following seven minutes to close out the game.

Halpin finished with 14 points for the Rams, while junior Justin Barall (East Hampton, Conn.) had 12 points and five assists for Suffolk. Junior Mike Gibbons (Ringwood, N.J.) also had 14 points for the Rams as the Suffolk guard connected on four 3-point shots in the contest. Senior Allan Ray (Lynn, Mass.) had 12 points for Suffolk who now fall to 2-1 on the season.

The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they open up their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schedule travelling to  Lasell College at 7:00pm.
