Men's Basketball to Participate in Coaches Vs. Cancer, Suits and Sneakers Awareness

Suffolk University Men's Basketball Head Coach Adam Nelson and his coaching staff will be participating in the 2010 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness campaign this upcoming weekend. This will be the third season that Coach Nelson and his staff members will be coaching in white sneakers, instead of traditional black dress shoes on the bench, along with their game-day suits as they travel to Rivier College to take on the Raiders in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game on Saturday, January 30, at 1:00pm.

Head Coach Adam Nelson had this to say about participating in this year's campaign: "The Coaches vs. Cancer initiative has been something that our coaching staff has been very proud to be a part of over the past few seasons. It is a great way for all of us coaches to unite and take a step back and realize that there are things bigger in life than athletics. This unique opportunity to promote a very special cause has also allowed us to truly appreciate how fortunate we are."

Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and communities to join the fight against cancer. Since the program's inception in 1993, high school and basketball coaches across the United States have joined the team to support the Society's efforts to save lives and create a world with more birthdays.
