Mark Fusco
Title: Assistant Baseball Coach

Mark Fusco, a five-year member and four-year letterwinner for the Rams, returned to Suffolk Athletics in 2021 in a new role, as an assistant coach on Anthony Del Prete’s staff. Fusco will begin his second season on Del Prete's staff in 2022.

Fusco's first season on Suffolk's coaching staff was a historic one as the Rams competed in the CCC for the first time. The blue-and-gold played its way through pod play into the playoffs. In the Pod B finals, Suffolk fell in a best-of-three series to Endicott to wrap up the season 11-12 overall. Six individuals made the Rams' record book as the first-ever student-athletes to take home All-CCC honors. Those nods were highlighted by a pair of first-team selections in Tim Brigham and Christian Seariac. Additionally, Seariac garnred an all-region honor by the NEIBA in conjunction with ABCA/Rawlings.

Fusco was a part of Suffolk baseball in one of its most successful tenures with the right handed pitcher belonging to and helping the blue-and-gold hoist four consecutive GNAC crowns from 2015-18. He was critical in the Rams last title tilt as the starter on the bump. In that outing, he threw seven innings, allowed just one earned run en route to Suffolk’s fourth championship in a row, a 6-5 decision at Saint Joseph’s (Maine).

The Medford, Massachusetts native, went to the Big Dance with the Rams four times and made three appearances on the hill highlighted by a monster relief effort against Arcadia May 19, 2017. Fusco came in to what was a true pitcher’s duel in the top of the 10th inning, which was around 11:30 p.m. at night. The game extended early into the morning hours and thanks to a one-hit, two-inning effort by Fusco in relief, Suffolk secured a walk-off 1-0 win to advance to the winner’s bracket at NCAA Regionals for just the first time in program history.

During his baseball career at Suffolk, Fusco took the rubber in 44 games with 12 starts for an 11-8 record and a pair of saves. The third-team All-GNAC honoree scattered 87 strikeouts over 131.2 innings pitched and wrapped up his career with a 2.87 ERA.

Fusco also competed on the men’s golf team for three seasons as a Ram. Academically, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance in 2018.
