HOW IT HAPPENED
Max Martin worked a walk to get Suffolk's offense going in the bottom of the first before Colin Flynn laced a double down the right field line. A productive ground out by Max Iorio brought the first run of the day in before Flynn scored on Chris Cimino's single to left to give the Rams a 2-0 edge.
The Hawks flew in front in the top of the second behind Jackson Ciccone's three-run blast to left center.
Hartford added two runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames, respectively, to put Suffolk in a seven-run, 9-2 hole.
A solo shot by Max Martin got the home half of the fifth underway and trimmed the gap to six.
The visitors restored their seven-run cushion in the top of the eighth thanks to one hit, one hit by pitch and one Rams' error.
Suffolk made one final move in the bottom of the ninth. The Rams filled the bags as Cole Hilliard drew a walk and Max Martin and Flynn singled. Iorio worked a walk to bring the first run in to jump start a rally. Cimino hit into a double play, however, to put two outs on the board. One run did come in on the ground out though and a dropped pop up by the Hawks' shortstop Peyton West when Alex Sorenti-Burns put the ball in play allowed Flynn to come in and cut the distance down to four. Jeffrey Blake managed to seal the win for the Hawks as he sat Armbruster down swinging.
