MILTON, Mass. – A two-run, go-ahead jack off Sebastian Lampert's bat gave Suffolk baseball the lead in the eighth and a three-run ninth sealed the 6-3 game one victory over Curry for the Rams Saturday at Jack Valley Diamond.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 6 | Curry 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (9-17, 2-5 CNE) | Curry (8-16, 4-7 CNE)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonels took a one-run lead in the bottom of the first and doubled the distance behind a one-run fourth frame.
Suffolk sliced the gap in half in the top of the fifth. With the bases loaded, an error by Curry's second baseman Bobby Marshall allowed the Rams first run of the day come in to make it a 2-1 game.
The score held there until the top of the eighth when Lampert slugged a homer over the right field fence and brought Chris Cimino, who reached on a fielder's choice, in with him to send the blue-and-gold in front, 3-2.
The Rams lengthened the lead in their next turn at the dish. Once again, all the ducks were in the pond in time for Sam Armbruster to lace double down the left field line. Two runs came in on the extra base hit. Lampert collected his third RBI of the day on a sac fly to left to extend the margin to 6-2.
Curry managed to muster one run in the home half of the ninth on a productive ground out by Reegan Thomas for the 6-3 final.
