RECORDS: Suffolk (7-16) | No. 29 Babson (14-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Babson capitalized on one hit and one Rams error to take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Suffolk righted the wrong in the top of the third. With runners on second and third thanks to a lead-off walk by Mike Mullaney followed by a diving double to center by Noah Greco. Colin Flynn collected a RBI on a sac fly to left. The second out of the frame went on the board before Chris Cimino and Alex Sorenti-Burns worked back-to-back walks to juice the bags. Max Iorio kept the rally going as he placed a single in center to plate two runs and push the Rams in front, 3-2.
The Beavers managed to even the playing field in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a pair of hit by a pitches and a fielding mishap by Suffolk's first baseman Cole Hilliard.
In their next turn at the dish, Babson jumped in front, 4-3. Tanner Santos led off the inning with a double to right field and took third on an overthrow by Iorio in left, which set up Zander Teator's go-ahead sac fly.
The Rams managed to lock things at 4-all in the top of the seventh thanks to a bases loaded passed ball. Greco, who reached on a fielder's choice, worked his way in behind Flynn's single and a Beavers' error.
Babson put the game away in the eighth. A lead-off jack by Ryan Liss got the rally going and the Beavers managed to add four-insurance runs to lengthen its lead to 9-4.
Suffolk managed to load the bases, but stranded the runners there as the Beavers converted a force out at home for the final out of the contest.
