EAST BOSTON – In a game that featured all weather elements – rain, snow, sleet, hail and sunshine -- Suffolk baseball suffered a 12-1, eight-inning game two setback to Lasell Saturday at East Boston Memorial Park.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Lasell 12
RECORDS: Suffolk (0-2) |Lasell (2-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lasers did not waste anytime to get the scoring going as two hits resulted in one run in the top of the first.
Three innings later, Lasell lengthened its lead to four before Suffolk snuck onto the board in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on second and third, Sam Armbruster grounded out third to plate Max Iorio, who walked to 4-1 game.
Lasell added three more runs in the top of the fifth, however, déjà vu did not occur as a Rams response did not come in the home half of the inning, which allowed the visitors to take a 7-1 advantage into the sixth.
That edge extended even further in the sixth as an error allowed the Lasers to bring one run in to make it an 8-1 game with 5.5 innings in the books.
Suffolk's offense never got going and Lasell turned on the run-rule in the top of the eighth with four runs that made it 12-1.
The Rams managed to get a base runner in the bottom of the inning as Noah Greco walked, but that's the only offense the host managed to muster to keep the 11-run gap final.
