
EAST BOSTON – Suffolk baseball fell to Lasell, 9-2, in its season debut, Saturday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park. The outing was the first of a non-conference twinbill.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lasell got on the board in the top of the first behind a two-run double by Scott Lyon.
The Rams responded in the home half of the inning thanks to a double of their own. Will Robbins barreled a two-bagger to center field that plate Sam Armbruster, who reached with a two-out double triple down the left field line.
Another two-run inning by the Lasers came in in the third and the visitors put one more up in the fourth to put Suffolk in a 5-1 hole.
A triple ignited Suffolk's offense yet again in the bottom of the fourth that trimmed the distance town to three, 5-2. This time Max Iorio knocked the extra base hit to right center to get into prime scoring position in time for Max Martin to collect an RBI on a base hit to center.
After a scoreless fifth and sixth, Lasell put up four runs in the seventh to lengthen their lead to seven. That offensive output came behind three hits and one Rams' error.
The Rams were retired in order over their next three turns at the dish to keep the score 9-2 in Lasell's favor.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Pierce Salbego took the loss. He allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits and two walks and sat down four hitters in 4.0 innings of work.
- Nick Arnett let up four runs, three earned, on three hits and three walks with a pair of punchouts in 3.0 of the pen.
- Ian Maude threw 2.0 innings of scoreless, hitless relief with two Ks.
- Matthew Fletcher took the win behind a two-run, six-hit, six-strikeout outing in 5.0 frames.
- Adam Marsh secured the save with 4.0 innings of scolress, hitless work. He sat down four batters and walked one.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Armbruster had one third of Suffolk's six hits with a 2-for-4 effort that featured one triple. He was responsible for one run as well.
- Iorio had one hit, a triple, and scored the other run for Suffolk.
- Max Martin added on hit and one rbi.
- Robbins registered one hit, a double and one RBI.
- Colin Flynn chipped in one hit and one stolen base.
NOTEWORTHY
- Since 2000, Suffolk is .500 (13-13) in the first game of the season.
- The Rams are now 4-7 in game one of the year under Anthony Del Prete's guidance.
- The Rams got their campaign underway in Eastie for the second consecutive campaign.
- It is the sixth time under Del Prete, second straight, that Suffolk started its season in New England.
- The Rams are 1-6 in the first game in the Northeast with Del Prete as skipper.
