BOSTON – Nearly half of Suffolk's baseball's roster will be new faces as head coach Anthony Del Prete brought in 16 newcomers, including seven transfers, to the fold for 2025.
The Rams lost the top half of their batting order and key arms on the mound to graduation, which forced Del Prete to work harder on the recruiting trail over the offseason.
Eight new arms will be added to the rotation in righties Nick Arnett, Nolan Drew, Anthony Ferreira, James Hogan, Colin McNeal, Nick Rubin and Dylan Santoro and southpaw Harry Meehan. That group joins the returning staff of Pierce Salbego (6-1, 59.2 innings pitched, 49 Ks), Jack Raimo (26.1 IP, 12 Ks, 3.42 ERA), TJ Dimitriou (25.0 IP, 16 Ks), John McDevitt (14.1 IP, 12 Ks), Ian Maude (11.0 IP, 3.27 ERA), Cam Martin (9.0 IP, 7 Ks), Sebastian Lampert(3.2 IP, 3 Ks) and Will Talbert.
The infield will may get a new look as well in transfers Chris Cimino and Mike Mullaney, and true freshmen Andrew Duarte, Hunter Keim, Cayden Plotkin and Will Robbins. Sam Armbruster highlights the returning infields, while Alex Sorenti-Burns (46 H, 44 RBI, 39 R), an all-region and second-team all-conference selection last season, filled in holes throughout the defensive spots as a utility player last season.
Nolan Lopes will be fighting for a spot in the outfield that welcomes back Max Iorio (.263, 35 RBI, 34 runs) and Colin Flynn (39 H, 39 R, 21 RBI), who will likely return to their usual defensive positions. Jack Mihalchik was a usual suspect in the outfield a year ago as well.
Ross Treubig adds a new look behind the plate and will give Max Martin (.288, 10 doubles, 22 RBI) a break. Adam Braid and Stephen Nardelli are backstop options as well.
Suffolk's season opener is a day way with a twinbill against Lasell on tap tomorrow, Saturday, March 1 at 12:00 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park.
