BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball was handed its first Commonwealth Coast Conference loss of the season as No. 1 Endicott stumped the Rams, 23-2, Tuesday afternoon at North Field.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2 | No. 1 Endicott 23
RECORDS: Suffolk (11-5, 2-1 CCC) | No. 1 Endicott (14-1, 3-0 CCC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk stranded runners in scoring position – one in the first, two in the second and another in the third – to find itself in a 10-run hole after three complete frames.
The Gulls got on the board in the home half of the second with a two-run single by Nick Notarange. Extra base hits, a Rams' throwing error and wild pitch in the third made it lopsided 10-0.
Rams continued to be left on base in the fourth and fifth, while Endicott built a hefty 16-0 advantage.
Endicott's scoring did not stop there as the host piled on seven more in the sixth for the 23-run distance.
Suffolk broke onto the board in the top of the seventh. Jonny Gilbride led off with a single through the right side, advanced to second and took third on Eric Paradis' base hit to center. Cole Hilliard brought the first Rams run of the day in on a sac fly to center. With the bases chucked, Alex Sorenti-Burns singled to third to plate Paradis to make it 23-2.
