Baseball Grabs ABCA Team Academic Award

ABCA RELEASE

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball was recognized for its work inside the classroom as Anthony Del Prete's Rams collected an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Award, the national organization announced.

After a year hiatus from the list that honors academic accomplishments, Suffolk scooped up its sixth all-time plaudit from the organization on the heels of an academic year in which the Rams compiled a 3.110 team grade point average. All six ABCA Team Academic Awards in the blue-and-gold's trophy case have come under Del Prete's guidance.

In order to be considered for the distinction, a team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale over the entire academic year and the head coach must be a current ABCA member.

Suffolk is one of 750 programs across all three NCAA divisions, NAIA, junior college and the high school ranks to garner the academic accolade. In total 450 college programs were recognized, 163 of which were NCAA Division III teams, including three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) institutions as Salve Regina and Western New England joined the blue-and-gold on the list.
