Baseball Trio Named All-CCC, Team Grabs Sportsmanship Nod

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk baseball saw three players scoop up all-conference distinction as the Commonwealth Coast Conference unveiled its 2023 All-CCC Team Tuesday morning. Harry Painter and Garret Roberts were selected to the second team, while Luke Harder represented the blue-and-gold on the third team, while the Rams picked up the league's sportsmanship accolade.

Painter earned a spot on the second-team as a third baseman. The Essex, Massachusetts, native was scattered throughout the conference top-10 in a handful of offensive categories as he led Suffolk's squad with 50 hits, 39 RBI and 26 runs scored on a .347/.392/.604 slash line. The right-handed hitter had 20 extra-base hits with 11 doubles, eight bombs and one triple. The all-league accolade marks the third of his career as he was selected as a first-teamer a year ago as well as Co-CCC Player of Year.

Roberts picked up his second-team status for the second time in as many seasons, this year as a utility. The junior from Stratham, New Hampshire, had 36 hits, 17 RBI, 23 runs and three stolen bases. The southpaw saw 45.1 innings over nine appearances, all starts, with 30 strikeouts for a 5.36 ERA.

Harder, who hails from Liverpool, New York, rounded out his collegiate career with a third-team nod for the second straight season. The senior outfielder registered 33 hits, 17 RBI, 17 walks, 22 runs scored and a team-best 13 stolen bases on a .317 connection rate and .437 on-base percentage.

The threesome aided to Suffolk's third consecutive CCC Postseason berth. The sixth-seeded Rams played their way into the double-elimination bracket with a 10-inning, 13-12 walk-off win over Gordon, May 8, before falling to eventual CCC Champion, then-No. 4/8 Endicott, 9-2, and fifth seed Western New England, 7-2.
