Baseball Avenges Game 1, Grabs Nightcap Win at Wentworth, 7-2

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Suffolk baseball bounced back from a double-digit setback in the opener of the Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader at Wentworth as the Rams took down the Leopards, 7-2, in the closer Saturday afternoon at Libbey Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 7 | Wentworth 2
RECORDS: Suffolk (10-16, 4-6 CCC) | Wentworth (3-24, 2-11 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Harry Painter's two-run single to center in the third opened scoring. The Rams' third baseman scored Timothy McCarthy and Michael Cole, who singled and walked, respectively.

A solo shot by Wentworth's Jake Prisco sliced the blue-and-gold's lead in half in the home half of the third.

Two innings later, the Rams added three runs to their advantage. The runs came behind a bases loaded pass ball, wild pitch and a throwing error by the Leopards pitcher Brandon Sullivan.

WIT responded to the Rams runs again with another dinger, this time Christian Peruzzi sent the ball out of the park to make it a 5-2 Suffolk score.

Things stayed still until the eighth. Garret Roberts led off the frame with a bomb to left center. Luke Harder bunted for a base hit and worked his way around the bags with a stolen base and McCarthy's fly out to right center before scoring on an erratic pitch to stretch the gap to 7-2 where it remained at the end of nine innings.
