BOSTON – Riding a high from its season-opening win, Suffolk baseball trekked down I-95 to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to compete at the Ripken Experience. The Rams have nine games over its seven-day Spring Training Trip slate against seven different opponents.

The Suffolk baseball team hit early and often to open its 75th campaign with a 13-6 victory over MIT, Tuesday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk started its season in the win column for the first time since 2018 when it defeated MIT, 13-6, Tuesday, March 8. That win was the first for the Rams over the Engineers since 2011 and featured the most runs versus MIT by blue-and-gold bats since 1985.  

Offensively, nine different players contributed to Suffolk's 15 hits. Luke Harder leads the way at the dish as the junior went 3-for-4 in game one to bring in a pair of runs, good for second on the squad, behind Marc Birbiglia's and Christian Seariac's three apiece. Birbiglia and Seariac each knocked a pair of hits in the first game of the year along with Blase Cormier and Harry Painter. 

Three different arms saw time on the hill against the Engineers. Steven Rossi earned the start and with 4.1 innings. Shawn Nosky and Nick Reiser both came out of the pen. Nosky picked up the win with 2.2 frames of scoreless work with just one hit allowed and four strikeouts. Reiser, meanwhile, closed the action with five Ks, two hits and two walks in the last 2.0 innings of action.
