ABCA RELEASE

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball was acknowledged for its academic accomplishments once again as the Rams earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award distinction, the national organization announced Wednesday.

The honor is the program's fifth straight for its work inside the classroom, all of which have come in the Anthony Del Prete era, on the heels of an academic year in which the Rams compiled a 3.326 team GPA.

In order to be considered for the plaudit, a team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale over the entire academic year and the head coach must be a current ABCA member.

Suffolk is one of over 550 programs across all three NCAA divisions, NAIA, junior college and the high school ranks to garner the academic accolade. In total 580 programs were recognized, 146 of which were NCAA Division III teams, including two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Institutions as Salve Regina joined the blue-and-gold on the list.
