BOSTON – Suffolk baseball will take the field Sunday, April 11 in a non-conference doubleheader against Salve Regina. The seven-inning game one will begin at 12 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park with the nine-inning nightcap to follow.

LAST TIME OUT
In a nine-inning outing that came down to the wire, EJ Birch secured a full-count, looking strikeout to preserve a 5-4 triumph for Suffolk baseball over Endicott in game two of a CCC doubleheader Wednesday night at North Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk swept Endicott in a two-game series Wednesday night to move to 5-3 on the year and 2-2 in CCC action.  

Tim Brigham is the only bat to produce 10-plus hits over the first eight games. The graduate student leads the team in hits (12), doubles (5) and RBI (5) with five runs scored. Marc Birbiglia and Blase Cormier are productive at the plate as well with seven hits apiece. Bribiglia has brought in five runs compared to Cormier's two, while Cormier has scored eight times himself.  

Suffolk's staff has a core group of starters in Steven Rossi (18.1 IP, 4.42 ERA, 19 Ks) and Parker Browne (11.0 IP, 4.91 ERA, 11 Ks). Michael Muscarella (8.0 IP, 12 Ks) and EJ Birch (7.2 IP, 2.34 ERA, 8 Ks) play as needed, both starting and out of the pen. 

SEAHAWKS SAYINGS
Salve Regina has a near perfect record at 6-0-1. The Seahawks defeated Curry five times and shutout Western New England, 4-0, before tying the Golden Bears in the nightcap of its last outing, 5-5, April 7.  

The Sea Hawks have outscored their opponents 45-25 in seven games. Matt D'Amato is the leader offensively with team-best numbers in hits and RBI with 12 and eight, respectively. The sophomore has added five runs and a pair of stolen bases. Anthony Cieszko, meanwhile, has contributed 10 hits, seven runs scored and six RBI. 

Patrick Maybach and Zach Dionne look to be Salve Regina's go-to starters. Dionne brings in a 1.80 ERA with 11 Ks over 10.0 innings, while Maybach boasts a 3.48 ERA and 14 punchouts in 10.1 frames of work. Joe Escandon (6.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 6 Ks) and Michael Matthews (0.00 ERA, 2.0 IP, 4 Ks) and Dominic Perachi (7.1 IP, 1.23 ERA, 15 Ks) have each earned the nod once as well. Holden Ferrari is the staff's closer with 3.0 innings scattered over four outings. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk leads the all-time series with Salve Regina, 12-6.
