Baseball Walks Off in Night Cap, Season Finale Against Ursinus, 2-1

SANFORD, Fla. – Tim Brigham put an exclamation point on his career as he knocked a walk-off single to push Suffolk baseball over Ursinus, 2-1, in the nightcap of the two-game series Friday afternoon at Boombah Complex A4.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Ursinus 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-6) | Ursinus (8-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ursinus was the first team to strike in game two as it put one run on the board in the top of the first.

Suffolk tied up matters in the bottom of the second when Luke Harder lobbed a long ball to left center. The Rams rookie turned on his wheels and rounded the bases with the ball inside the park to make it a 1-all game.

The score stood still from there as Steven Rossi commanded the bump for the blue-and-gold to force extra innings.

Rossi retired the side in the top of the eighth to set up the thrilling comeback. Zack Aresty barreled a one-bagger to left in the home half of the eighth before the Bears made a pitching change. Steven Shamnoski's sac pushed Aresty over before Urisnus intentionally walked Nik San Antonio. A passed ball moved both runners into scoring position and another intention walk put all the ducks in the pond, which set up Brigham's heroics. In what could potentially be his last collegiate at bat, Brigham struck the ball to right center, which allowed Aresty score the game-winning run and the Rams dog piled on the captain to celebrate the 2-1 season finale win.
