Muscarella Named GNAC Pitcher of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Michael Muscarella of the Suffolk baseball team took home GNAC Pitcher of the Week accolades after a 1-0 week in which he threw 9.1 innings and assembled a 1.93 ERA, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Muscarella, a sophomore from Melrose, Massachusetts, began his second season with the Rams in relief effort in their season opener at No. 14 UMass Boston March 4. Across town he tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief with no hits allowed, one walk and two strikeouts.

The righty then opened the blue-and-gold's Spring Break trip with a 7-5 victory over Dickinson March 7. The starter put scattered eight hits, and five punchouts over 6.0 frames, allowing just two earned runs.

The accolade marks the first of Muscarella's career and first of the season for Suffolk. He is the first hurler to garner the best pitcher over a seven day stretch by the conference since Parker Browne achieved the feat April 22, 2019.

Muscarella and the Rams are in the midst of their time at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. After today's twinbill with Fitchburg State, Suffolk takes two days to rest before wrapping up action in the Sunshine State with doubleheaders versus Greenville (March 12) and Ursinus (March 13).
