HOW IT HAPPENED
Both sides stranded one runner in the first and second before each side threatened in the third.

Connor Troio started Suffolk off with a base on balls before Rich Gilbride singled to third base to put Rams' runners on first and second. Tom Doran gain composure from there and picked up three straight outs to keep the blue-and-gold off the board.

The next three innings remained scoreless including the top of the fifth where the Rams had the bags juiced.

Suffolk saw another chance to level the playing field in the seventh when Troio hit a single up the middle to lead off the inning and chase Doran out of the game. Logan Heckman took Troio's spot on the bases and the pinch runner swiped second to get into scoring position, but was held there as Blase Cormier flew out to center for the final out of the frame.

Tim Lombardi led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo shot to left field to pad JWU's lead to a pair.

Down two, the Rams were retired in order in the eighth and only managed to get one base runner on in the ninth to suffer the setback.
