Walrod Picks Up Place on D3Baseball.com Team of the Week

D3Baseball.com Team of the Week

BOSTON – More accolades come in for Suffolk baseball's Worth Walrod after his no-hitter, as the senior pitcher was named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week.

The Team of the Week is D3Baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eighth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's Sports Information Directors.

Walrod earned his spot on the ninth Team of the Week of the 2019 season after firing a no-hitter in game-one of a GNAC two-game series with Anna Maria April 7. He was near perfect over his complete-game, 7.0-inning performance with just three walks allowed to go along with 10 punchouts, which match a career-high for the southpaw.

The Dedham, Massachusetts, is the third-ever Suffolk baseball player to be recognized on the national Team of the Week as Chuck Gibson '17 became the first in 2017 and Jake Flax '18, took home the honor at the end of the 2018 campaign.

The accolade is the second of the week for Walrod, who was named the best pitcher by the GNAC as well. Overall this season, he has picked up three weekly honors to bring his career total to five.

Walrod and the Rams return to action this afternoon, Wednesday, April 11 at Wheaton. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
