BOSTON – Suffolk baseball returns to GNAC action this weekend and looks to remain its perfect league ledger in take when it heads to Rivier Saturday, April 6, before welcome Anna Maria to East Boston Memorial Park the next day, Sunday, April 7. Both conference doubleheaders have a 1 p.m. game one start.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk baseball started a late comeback against Nichols, but the Bison held the Rams off to take down the blue-and-gold, 8-6, Thursday night in non-conference action at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk stepped out of conference competition with two mid-week non-conference clashes, but fell in each – at Endicott (12-11) and to Nichols (8-6) – to move to 13-9-1 on the year. When it comes to conference action, the Rams are unbeaten, 6-0, after sweeping Nichols, Colby Sawyer and Albertus Magnus.
Everyday starters Will Hopkins and Tim Brigham are anchoring the Rams at the dish. Hopkins, a sophomore outfielder, is hitting .405 with 30 hits, 12 RBI, 21 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Brigham, meanwhile, is batting .404 with a team-best numbers in hits (36) and RBI (27) to go along with 14 runs scored. He is also the biggest threat when it comes to extra-base strikes with half of his 36 hits going for extra bases in 15 doubles and three dingers.
On the hill, Suffolk will use the rotation of Charles Batchelder, Steven Rossi, Kevin Sinatra and Worth Walrodas starters throughout the weekend with relief effort by Michael Muscarella. Muscarella holds the best ERA of the Rams' 15-man staff at 0.55 over 16.1 innings, all of which he came out of the pen for. Rossi boasts the best ERA of the starting arms at 2.53 with 18 strikeouts in 21. Innings of action. Walrod has sat down a team-best 28 hitters in seven appearances. Batchelder (4.18 ERA, 13 K) and Sinatra (5.00 ERA, 13 K) round out the quartet.
RAIDERS REVIEW
Rivier heads into the weekend and back to conference play after sweeping a double feature with Maine Presque Isle (8-0, 10-4) and slipping to Newbury twice (3-2, 18-7).
Fred Kazalski and Jorge Martinez provide a one-two punch at the plate for the Raiders. Kazalski, a sophomore outfielder, has produced 26 hits and 18 RBI off a .325 batting average and has scored 13 runs. Martinez, meanwhile, is hitting .296 with 21 hits, 16 RBI and seven runs scored to his credit.
The Raiders staff ERA comes in at 7.37. Corey Cochran's 4.01 ERA is the lowest of the main starting arms. The freshman has seen 24.2 innings in four starts and owns 11 strikeouts. Kyle Flanagan has also worked 24.2 frames on the rubber over six appearances and four starts. He has a staff-best 19 punchouts to go along with a 4.74 ERA.

- Suffolk commands the all-time series with Rivier, leading 38-6, including five consecutive wins over the Raiders.
AMCATS ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Anna Maria, who will face Saint Joseph's (Maine) Saturday prior to trekking to Boston, heads into the weekend 8-16 overall and 1-5 in conference contests.
The AMCATs have a foursome of everyday players hitting over .300 paced by Jake Cervier's .389 average. The sophomore has recorded 28 hits, including nine doubles, for seven RBI. He has scored 15 runs and swiped 10 bases. Noah Holland is top on the squad in hits (29) behind a .326 batting average with a team-high 16 runs scored as well. Kosta Drosidis (.321, 26 H, 20 RBI, 14 R) and Adam Twitchell (.321, 25 H, 19 RBI, 14 R) round out the top batting threats for Anna Maria.
Jack Marze and Colin Pipkin are the AMCATs, one-two. In seven appearances, six starts, Marzec has compiled an ERA of 5.34 with 35 strikeouts, while Pipkin, who has played 27.0 innings over six nods, has put together a 6.00 ERA and sat down 20 hitters. Liam Cunningham has proven himself as the AMCATs closer over 11 appearances HE has put together a 1.11 ERA with 13 Ks.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Since the series began in 2012, Suffolk has all, but two wins in the meetings with Anna Maria to hold a 12-2 all-time record versus the AMCATs.
