Baseball Adds Doubleheader at Endicott to Prep for NCAAs

BOSTON – With the 2018 NCAA Division III Regionals just over a week away, the Suffolk baseball team has added a double feature at Endicott Friday, May 11 to it schedule to stay active before the Big Dance. First pitch of the opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. at North Field in Beverly, Massachusetts.

For the fourth straight season, Suffolk hoisted the GNAC trophy in the air thanks to a 6-5 win over Saint Joseph's (Maine) Sunday, May 5. The top-seeded Rams had a flare for the dramatic throughout the tournament, needing extra innings to defeat fourth-seeded Lasell, 6-5, in the quarterfinals to advance to the winners' bracket where it took a one-run win in the semis over third-seed Johnson & Wales, 7-6, to advance to the championship for the 12th straight season. The blue-and-gold kept Ram Nation on the edge of its seats one again in the championship versus the Monks as it held off a comeback from St. Joe's to raise the league banner once again.

Tournament MVP Jake Flax commanded the hill in the closing inning in each of the tournament tilts to lock up Suffolk's fourth consecutive crown and eighth overall to ensure their NCAA Tournament ticket would be punched for the eighth time in program history.

After facing the Gulls on Friday, Suffolk may add one more contest before the official seeding of the 2018 NCAA Tournament is released late Sunday night or first thing Monday morning.
