PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Suffolk baseball seniors Matt Brenner and Chuck Gibson took the field in their Suffolk baseball uniforms one last time as the senior duo represented the Rams on the College Division (Division II/III) team at the 2017 Joe Walsh new England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game. The co-captains helped their squad rally for a 3-3 tie against the University Division (Division I) team with a late eighth inning run at McCoy Stadium Friday afternoon.
Southern Connecticut State's Nick Lamberti drove in Owl's teammate Greg Zullo with the equalizing run in the bottom of the eighth to have the game produce the first tie since 2011 and third overall.
Brenner was behind the dish for the final three innings of the outing with Gibson commanding the hill for the seventh. Gibson retired the side with one strikeout with Brenner collecting three putouts.
