Chant Named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, Again

BOSTON – On the heels of a 5-1 week, Suffolk baseball's Brady Chant took home GNAC Corvias Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday. 

Chant batter .429, slugged .929, scored 15 times and added eight RBI in six games. He hit safely in each contest, including four multi-hit games. The junior centerfielder started things off with a 2-for-5, two-run, one-RBI effort in a 10-6 victory at Curry. The Warwick, Rhode Island, native continued to rake in the remainder of the week with his highlight performance coming in a 30-8 offensive slaughter over Anna Maria Saturday. He went 3-for-6 with all three of his hits good for three bases with five runs scored and one RBI. The three triples are the most by a Ram in a single outing with two coming in the third inning, which ties a NCAA DIII record. 

Chant punctuated the hectic week with a 3-for-5, four-run, three-RBI day in the nightcap victory against the AMCATS. His three hits were all for two bases, aiding to the Rams' 12 total doubles in the outing, which ties the NCAA DIII record and makes Suffolk the first team to rock 12 doubles in one game since 2011. He helped Suffolk score the most runs by a team across NCAA DIII this season and highest score by Suffolk since plating a program-record 47 in a 47-1 victory over Southern Vermont April 22, 2015.   

Another busy week is in store for Chant and the Rams, who kick things off Marathon Monday at Rhode Island College. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
