MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Suffolk baseball team saw its seven-game win-streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon as the Rams fell 11-5 at Eastern Connecticut State at Eastern Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors quickly built a 5-0 lead with three runs to open the game and two more in the second frame. The score stood still from there until the Rams got on the board with one marker in the top of the fourth. Three walks loaded the bases and despite Greg Speliotis' knock that resulted in a play, the designated hitter brought in the lead off runner to trim the deficit to four.
Eastern Conn. State responded to Suffolk's lone run with two of its own to gain a 7-1 lead. The Rams once again cut the deficit, slowly coming back into the contest with two runs in the fifth. A wild pitch scored Trevor Lee, who walked and two batters later Seth Coiley plated Higgins, who singled to left, to bring the blue-and-gold back within five.
Every time Suffolk played catch up the Warriors answered with runs of their own, bringing one in the home half of the fifth and three move in the sixth to gain an 11-3 cushion. The Rams left one runner on in the seventh and eighth, respectively, and attempted a comeback in the ninth, but were only able to bring in two for the final 11-5 setback.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Coiley led the way for Suffolk with a 2-for-3 showing at the dish with two RBI and two walks.
- Cameron and Higgins went 1-for-3 each with one run scored.
- As a pinch hitter, Tim Brigham connected on his lone plate appearance and scored one of Suffolk's five runs.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Charles Batchelder suffered the defeat on the bump. The sophomore gave up eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and five walks in 4.2 innings, which featured two Ks.
- Wyatt Stanley worked 1.1 frames of relief, allowing three runs on four hits. The southpaw sat down one hitter.
- Tyler Zell closed the game, with no runs allowed and just one hit and one walk through the final 2.0 innings.
- Eastern Conn. State used four arms on the mound with Cole Ogorzalek earning the win. He tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball, giving up just one hit with one walk and one strikeout.

Suffolk takes the diamond for the third straight day as the Rams return to East Boston Memorial Park and GNAC action for a doubleheader versus Albertus Magnus tomorrow. Game one is scheduled for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
