AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Westfield State snapped the Suffolk baseball team's five-game win streak with a 5-2 victory on Tuesday morning at Lake Myrtle Park as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Suffolk threatened late bringing the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, but could not get the big hit they needed as it fell to a 5-2 overall record on the season.
Junior Wyatt Stanley pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for Suffolk.
Senior Jon Lapolla was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI on a sacrifice fly as he was one of three players for Suffolk to record multiple hits on the afternoon.
Freshman Jake Frasca was 2-for-5 with an RBI single in the ninth, while senior Rob Marks was 2-for-3 with a double, walk and a run scored in the setback.
Suffolk will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when it take on Ripon College at 2:30 p.m. in game six of Suffolk's 10-game southern swing.
