Baseball Finishes Spring Trip With 15-4 Victory over Westfield St.

The Suffolk University Baseball team won their seventh game in a row to close out their annual spring trip with a 15-4 victory over the Westfield State University Owls.

Suffolk scored runs in all seven innings of the game to improve to 7-1 to start the season as they have scored 89 through their first eight games of the year, hitting .358 as a team.

Junior Mike Muse (Milton, Mass.) was 4-for-4 on Saturday afternoon to lead a 16-hit offensive attack for Suffolk. Muse reached base in all five plate appearances in the game as he had a pair of RBI singles in the third and fourth innings and also drew a walk.

Junior Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) was 3-for-5 on the day with three runs scored as he finishes the trip hitting .513 (20-for-39).

Junior Jonathan Richard (North Reading, Mass.) picked up his second win in as many starts as he allowed two earned runs on eight hits while striking out six in a complete game effort.

Junior Jack Sullivan (Hamilton, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 on the day driving in three runs, including a two-run double as part of a four run third inning for Suffolk. Sullivan also stole two bases on the day as Suffolk took five total as a team.

Muse, Cintolo and senior Mike Cunningham (Syosset, N.Y.) all scored three runs on the day for Suffolk, while junior Devan Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) was 2-for-5 as he drove in a pair of runs.

Senior Chris Stanley (Placentia, Calif.) finished the day 3-for-5 as he scored a pair of runs and picked up a pair of RBI. Stanley also made a spectacular diving catch in left field in the fourth inning and then finished off the fifth as threw an Owls' runner out at home trying to score on a single.

Suffolk will be in action again on Tuesday afternoon as they head to Wheaton College for a non-conference matchup at 3:30pm.
