The Suffolk University Rams and Johnson & Wales University Wildcats split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header on Sunday afternoon. The Rams took game one, 3-2, while the Wildcats offense scorched the Rams in game two, 12-5.

Game one saw junior Mitch Monke (Springfield, Ohio) throw a complete game gem allowing only four hits and two unearned runs over seven innings of work for the Rams' 12th win of the season. Monke struck out three hitters in the game, improving his season record to 3-3 on the hill for Suffolk.

Sophomore Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning with a double off the centerfield wall that plated sophomores Devan Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) and Mike Muse (Milton, Mass.) for the go-ahead runs.

Jones had an RBI single earlier in the game as he was the only player on both sides to have a multi-hit game in the opener with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

Game two saw the Wildcats pound out 15 hits, draw six base on balls and collect three hit batsman as they jumped all over Suffolk in a 12-5 victory. The win puts the Wildcats at the 20-win plateau, with a 20-12 overall season record.

Sophomore Jack Hocking (Hanover, Mass.) was 3-for-4 was 4 RBI in the second game of the twinbill as he opened the scoring in the top of the first with a two-out RBI double to centerfield.

The Wildcats would score four runs in the fourth inning taking advantage of two hit batters and three walks to stake themselves to a 5-0 lead.

Hocking connected on his second home run of the season in the sixth inning, a two-run blast, before junior James Reyes (Providence, R.I.) put the game out of reach with a two-run double down the left field line.

Reyes finished game two with three RBI on a 2-for-4 performance, while senior Matt Newsome (Providence, R.I.) was 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.

Eight of the nine hitters in the Wildcats lineup recorded at least one hit in the nightcap, while all nine reached base.

Freshman Shawn Haugh (Tampa, Fla.) moved to 5-0 on the mound for the Wildcats with a complete game effort. Haugh scattered six hits through seven innings of work, before he was touched late in the game for four runs in the seventh. He was effectively wild, walking eight hitters while punching out five Rams' hitters.

Junior Jhonneris Mendez (Boston, Mass.) connected on his third home run of the season, a three-run blast to left in the seventh inning.

Both teams will have a GNAC double header on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats with host the Emerson College Lions at 3:30pm. Suffolk travels to Anna Maria College at 3:30pm as well.
