The Suffolk University Baseball team (4-8-1 overall) snapped a five-game skid with an 11-4 victory over the Bridgewater State University Bears (7-8 overall) on Thursday afternoon.

Senior Tim Belanger (Raynham, Mass.) pitched seven innings for his first victory of the season on the mound for the Rams only allowing three runs, while being aided by four turned double plays by the defense as Suffolk picks up their fourth victory of the season.

Sophomore Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) collected three hits on the day, connecting on his second home run in as many days, while junior Jhonneris Mendez (Boston, Mass.) was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs scored to pace the offense.

Suffolk jumped out early to a 1-0 lead in their opening at bat as sophomore Mac Jacobson (Norfolk, Mass.) drew a walk to start the game. After stealing second base, and advancing to third on a ground ball, sophomore Devan Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) plated the first run of the contest with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Rams would plate of pair of runs in the second inning with Cintolo getting the inning going with a single back up the middle. Mendez then doubled to deep right center to give Suffolk two runners in scoring position with one out. Sophomore Mike Muse (Milton, Mass.) picked up an RBI with a ground out to second as Suffolk would later take advantage of a botched pick-off play at third base to stake themselves to a 3-0 lead.

The offense finally got going in the sixth inning as the Rams would score four times. Jacobson once again got the scoring started drawing a base on balls to lead off the inning, before a Cintolo single would give the Rams two baserunners. Jones drove in a run with a two-strike single to left center, before Mendez hit his second double of the contest off the left field wall to score two more Suffolk runs. Junior Chris Stanley (Orange County, Calif.) capped the inning off later with a sacrifice fly to center.

Cintolo connected on his second home run of the season in the seventh, a screaming shot over the left field fence as the Rams built a 9-2 lead through six innings of play.

Sophomore James McConville (Medford, Mass.) would add an RBI single in the seventh inning and then come around to score later that inning on a Bears' error.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Rhode Island College for a non-conference doubleheader with the Anchormen beginning at noon.
