Babb's Complete Game Lifts Baseball to 3-1 Win

Senior Andrew Babb (Ashland, Mass.) fired a complete game six-hitter to lead the Suffolk University Baseball team (12-12 overall) to a 3-1 victory over the Salem State University Vikings (11-10 overal).

Freshman Michael Muse (Milton, Mass.) delivered a pinch-hit single over the first base bag to drive in a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.

Suffolk collected 10 hits on the day, but could not find the big hit until Muse's at-bat in the seventh. The Rams left runners in scoring position in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings before Muse finally came through with the clutch single.

The Vikings got on the board in the first inning as senior Ryan Kane (Nahant, Mass.) rolled a single through the right side of the infield for the first run of the game.

Babb would settle in retiring 13 hitters in a row at one point before allowing a two-out single in the eighth inning. Babb would punch the golden ticket however in the ninth retiring the side in order to pick up his second win of the season and first complete game. The senior southpaw fanned seven Vikings' hitters without rendering a walk.

Babb also had a strong day with the bat going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Babb would start the Rams' eighth inning off with a single up the middle before stealing second base. Freshman Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) would draw a walk and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Senior Mark Annese (Winchester, Mass.) then plated the Rams next run with a sacrifice fly to center.

Babb, Cintolo, Annese and sophomore Mike Cunningham (Syosset, N.Y.) all finished with a pair of hits for Suffolk.
