Sophomore Charles Kilgore (Milford, N.H.) pitched 5 2/3 innings of relief only allowing one run while scattering five hits as he gave the Rams a huge lift out of the bullpen as Suffolk dug themselves out of an early hole for their first win of the 2010 season.

The Anchormen pushed their lead to 7-2 as senior Tim Schabowski (Pascoag, R.I.) chased Rams’ starter Alex Torres (Framingham, Mass.) with a two-run homer to right field.

Kilgore (1-0) would quickly settle into the game, retiring the first six hitters he faced giving the Rams a chance to close the gap.

The Rams got three runs back in the fourth as senior Jose Alejandro (Lowell, Mass.) hit an RBI-triple down the right field line before scoring on a passed ball. Freshman Mike Cunningham (Syosset, N.Y.) knocked in the other Suffolk run earlier that inning with a sacrifice fly.
