Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

The Suffolk University Baseball team scored 29 runs banging out 32 hits in two games combined to sweep a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header over the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Tuesday afternoon.  Suffolk used the long ball hitting three home runs in a 14-2 game one victory, before exploding for 17 hits in a 15-0 win in game two.

Junior Andrew Babb (Ashland, Mass.) finished game one, a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored, 3-RBI and connected on his third home run of the season to lead the Rams’ offense.

Suffolk scored six runs in the second inning as freshman Jhonneris Mendez (Roslindale, Mass.) got the scoring started hitting a two-run homer to left. Senior Bobby Barrett (Milton, Mass.) would drive in a run later in the inning with a single and would be followed by Babb who added two more runs with an RBI-single of his own as Suffolk took a 6-2 edge and never looked back.

Senior Rory Gentile (Gloucester, Mass.) drilled a two-run homer into left in the third as the Suffolk onslaught continued.

Babb would add a homer in the fourth and Mendez drove in two more runs in the sixth with a double. Sophomore Dan Belanger (Raynham, Mass.) drove home two runs in the seventh with a double to left center.

Mendez finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBI, while junior Mark Addesa (Revere, Mass.) had three hits.

Junior Alex Torres (Framingham, Mass.) pushed his record to 4-1, only allowing two unearned runs in the complete game effort striking out seven.

Senior Marc Doyle (Whitman, Mass.) was dominant again in game two, striking out 10 hitters and only allowing two hits as he threw his second consecutive shutout. Doyle was just as big with the bat going 3-for-5, falling just shy of a home run for the cycle and also driving in four runs.

Junior Mark Annese (Winchester, Mass.) also had a big day with the bat, driving in four runs going 2-for-5. Barrett was also 3-for-5 in the night cap for the Rams who had 17 hits in the game as a unit.

The Rams will be back in action tomorrow as they host Rivier College at Adams Field beginning at 3:30pm. Suffolk will need just one win to claim the Great Northeast Athletic Conference regular season title, giving them the number one seed in next week’s league tournament.
