Game 2 Box Score

Waltham, MA - The Suffolk University Baseball (29-8) team continued to swing the bats well as the Rams took a double header from Brandeis University (16-25) winning game one 10-2, and then 11-1 in game two. Junior Bobby Barrett (Milton, MA) went a combined 6-for-8 on the day with two home runs, two doubles and nine RBI. The nine RBI on the day now give Barrett a season total of 66, which is now the all-time single season mark in Suffolk's 62-year program history.

Game 1

Suffolk jumped out early in the first game as senior Paul Vittozzi (North Reading, MA) was hit by a pitch and then came around to score on a double in the right center gap by Barrett for the quick 1-0 edge.

Brandeis would answer with their only two runs of the game in bottom half of the first. Freshman Julian Calvin (Brooklyn, NY) got the Judges going by drawing a leadoff walk that was followed by a single up the middle by freshman Sean O'Hare (Southhampton, MA). Freshman Jon Chu (Hollis Hills, NY) drove in Brandeis' first run by grounding out to short, and sophomore Tony Deshler (Pepperell, MA) put the Judges ahead 2-1 with an infield single.

Things would remain close through the middle innings until the fifth when Barrett connected on a 3-run homer to give the Rams the 4-2. Barrett drove a changeup over the fence in right center plating freshman Dan Belanger (Raynham, MA) and Vittozzi. With the homer Barrett now becomes Suffolk's single season record holder in RBI (Joe Duca '00 held the previous record with 60).

Suffolk didn't slow down in the seventh taking advantage of a couple of Brandeis miscues as Barrett would strike again for his second double of the day plating two more Rams' baserunners to give him a total of six runs batted in for game one. Sophomore Mark Addesa (Revere, MA) broke the game open later in the inning when he hit a bases clearing double into right center. Senior Mike Kenneally (Georgetown, MA) drove in Addesa with an RBI single to put the Rams up 10-2.

Senior Dan Delia (Boston, MA) picked up his seventh win of the season on the mound for Suffolk going the distance only allowing four hits while striking out three. Delia cruised after the first only allowing only two singles the rest of the way in his fifth complete game of the year.

Vittozzi finished game one 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Addesa was 2-for-4 with three RBI coming way of his double in the seventh.

Game 2

Suffolk jumped out the same way they ended game one, plating eight runs in the first two innings to cruise to an 11-1 victory in game two. Senior Reid Jackson (Burlington, MA) delivered his sixth complete game of 2009 to pick up his sixth win of the season. The southpaw scattered eight hits in his seven innings of work, only allowing the one run while striking out six and not allowing a walk.
