Rams 'Round the World: Men's Soccer's Emilio Tenacio

Freshman Emilio Tenacio has taken his talents overseas for the 2020 spring semester to study at Suffolk's Madrid campus. While stamping his academic passport, Tenacio will check in with GoSuffolkRams.com from time-to-time to tell Ram Nation what she has been up to abroad.

Below is the first installment, when Tenacio, who is a Madrid native, arrived back to his roots.

With the spring semester about to begin, I have decided to embark on a new journey in my college experience. As a student-athlete, I have decided to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. The opportunity of being able to study abroad my first year in college is quite extraordinary. However, the decision was made quite simple with the input of friends and professors that had studied abroad beforehand. While being in a new place, I am also revisiting my background as I was born in Madrid. I know what you’re thinking, “wow that transition is going to be easy,” but I assure you that living in a completely different country that you haven’t lived in since your childhood still has its challenges.

Having landed on Jan. 7 I have been in complete shock of my surroundings, culture, and especially the food! I have only needed one day in Spain to fill my pallet with exquisite and tasteful food options. I had never forgotten about Spain, but now I remember why I love this country so much! Awaiting a highly anticipated welcome trip that has been organized in Cordoba and Granada, I am ecstatic to revisit my roots.
